Eastguard

Eastguard Map

A growing coastal town on the eastern shore of the New Sea

Eastguard sits along the eastern coast of the New Sea, in a stretch of shoreline locals simply call the New Coast. A tall wooden wall surrounds the town, built like an oversized picket fence that funnels travelers toward the north and south gates along Main Street.

From the outside, it looks almost too perfect. Clean streets. Easy smiles. The kind of place where people seem to know your name before you say it.

Spend a little time here and you start to notice the rhythm of it. Hammers in the distance. The creak of shop signs in the sea breeze. Laughter spilling out of taverns near dusk. The sound of waves never quite leaving your ears.

Eastguard feels safe. It feels warm.

And it feels like it’s still becoming something.

The Shape of the Town

Eastguard is small enough to cross on foot without effort, but dense enough that every street holds something worth noticing.

Main Street runs north to south, connecting both gates. Most trade and travel flows through here. Side streets branch off toward workshops, homes, and the harbor.

To the west, the land opens toward the shoreline and docks. Past main street to the east lies the residential heart of the town. Many of the buildings here grow upward instead of outward, a clue as to how fast the little village has turned into a central hub along this area of the coast.

This is a place built quickly, but not carelessly.

Places to Eat, Drink, and Rest

If you stay in Eastguard, you will end up in one of these places.

  • The Snoring Warrior Tavern sits just outside the south gate. It is the first stop most travelers see, and many never make it further before deciding to stay the night. It offers only a few rooms though, only the quick and the lucky traveler stays here.
  • The Inn of the Broken Blade offers a warmer, steadier kind of comfort. Good food, soft beds, and a fire that always seems to be lit. This is the main Inn here, there may be others, but for 5 star service this is the place to be.
  • The Mad Sphinx is smaller, rougher, and louder. The kind of place where stories get exaggerated and trouble finds you faster than you expect. It’s a little one room dive bar that has no guest rooms, but you probably wouldn’t want to stay the night here anyway.

Shops and Trade

Eastguard’s streets are lined with small businesses, each one shaped by the person who runs it.

You can find almost anything here, if you ask the right person.

Civic and Public Spaces

These are the places that hold the town together.

Faith and Learning

Eastguard does not push belief on anyone, but it does not ignore it either.

  • The Temple of Mishakal is still being restored. Its presence is quiet, but steady, and the work being done there matters more than most people realize.

The Harbor

The western edge of town opens to the sea.

Fishing boats move in and out with the tide. Traders come and go. News arrives here first, whether anyone wants it to or not.

If something is going to change Eastguard, it will likely come from the water.

The People

Eastguard is defined less by its buildings and more by the people inside them.

Rumors

Rumors move faster than people here. You hear them in taverns, along the docks, and in quiet conversations that stop when you get too close.

Current Rumors

  • Aemon Cobb keeps unusual hours.
  • The restoration crew once set fire to something they should not have.

Older Stories

Eastguard is not finished.

It grows with every new arrival, every deal made, every mistake buried and every story told.

Stay long enough, and it starts to feel like it knows you.
