The Temple Of Mishakal
The Temple of Mishakal stands across the river on the northern edge of Eastguard. Travelers leaving the city by Main Street cross a covered wooden bridge before reaching the temple grounds. Beyond the bridge the town grows quieter, and the noise of harbor work fades into wind and birdsong.
The temple itself is still partly in ruins.
Once a proud sanctuary, the building suffered heavy damage years ago and only recently began to see restoration. Masons, carpenters, and volunteers can often be found repairing stonework, replacing roof tiles, and rebuilding sections of the sanctuary. When completed the structure will be a handsome stone church crowned with a steeple and long roofline broken by dormer windows. At the rear of the structure, the building expands into a half-octagonal apse where the main altar to Mishakal will stand.
For now, parts of the temple remain scaffolded and unfinished. Fresh timbers sit beside weathered stone. Sections of roof are newly tiled while others still show scars from earlier damage. Even so, the place carries a gentle calm that people often notice the moment they step onto the grounds.
Next to the temple lies a quiet cemetery. Rows of modest stone markers stretch across a patch of slightly rising ground, shaded by a handful of old trees that survived whatever damaged the church itself. The cemetery is maintained with care, and visitors often leave flowers or small tokens beside the stones.
Despite the repairs and the unfinished work, the temple has already become a place where townsfolk come for quiet prayer, healing, and guidance.
