Carpenters’ Woodworking
Carpenter’s Woodworking sits on the west side of Main Street near the southern stretch of town in Eastguard, directly across from The Mad Sphinx.
The shop is widely considered the beating heart of Eastguard’s craftsmanship. Much of the town’s construction has passed through the hands of its owner, Cody Carpenter, whose work ranges from simple furniture to full building construction.
The workshop smells strongly of fresh sawdust and polished wood. Lanterns hang from rafters and beams, casting warm light across sturdy work tables, carefully organized tools, and stacks of lumber waiting to be shaped.
The shop itself is a wide rectangular structure with a wraparound porch that faces east toward Main Street. Finished tables, chairs, and other handcrafted pieces are often displayed along the porch so travelers heading north toward Scholar’s Row can see the quality of Cody’s work before they even step inside.
Inside, business is conducted in a simple but charming arrangement. Two rocking chairs sit facing one another with a small end table between them. Cody always takes the chair on the left while the customer sits on the right. Deals are discussed comfortably there rather than at a formal counter, giving the entire place a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The interior contains multiple woodworking benches, a sanding station, racks of lumber, and shelves filled with chisels, planes, and other tools of the trade.
A back door leads to the Carpenter family home and their yard. The yard includes a small gazebo and a calm pond where Cody sometimes sits to sketch new designs or take a quiet break from his work. The house itself is modest but carefully built, as one might expect from a master carpenter.
