Summary
Brynnan’s Test came to a head on a cliff’s edge, Raistlin Majere waiting for him with the same brutal choice as before: kill a companion, or fight a stronger foe. Brynnan chose to fight, trading blows with the red-robed mage and holding his ground even as Raistlin pressed him to reconsider.
Outside, Jack, Titus, and Sir Jangle noticed the forest itself seemed to be shifting and followed it. A floating disk carried Brynnan back across the gap toward them — and in that final moment, something in him shifted too. He emerged from the Test transformed: the Staff of Magius in hand, his hair stark white, his robes changed. No time at all had passed for the others outside; Brynnan simply rejoined the group, Test complete.
Regrouping, the party spotted smoke on the horizon and went to check it out. Jack scouted ahead and found a Blue Dragon Army detachment in the middle of binding a young dragon. Sir Jangle tried bluffing the soldiers off with false orders, but they weren’t having it, so the party moved to break up the ritual by force. Jack opened by dropping a ritualist, Bimmi pushed in under a guardian spirit’s protection, Brynnan burned through the ropes holding the dragon, and Sir Jangle backed Bimmi up. The newly freed dragon thrashed loose and answered with a lightning blast that caught both Titus and Brynnan. Jack finished the last soldier, Sir Jangle tried to talk the dragon down, Bimmi hit it with radiant force, and Jack closed things out with a well-placed arrow.
Afterward, the party split a hoard worth 4,400 gold, a Potion of Lightning Resistance, and a spell scroll. Jack kept a javelin, and Sir Jangle claimed armor from a fallen soldier along with a set of dragon scales.
Short
Brynnan’s Test ends in transformation — a new staff, white hair, changed robes — and no time lost for the rest of the party. Fresh off that, the group interrupts a Blue Dragon Army ritual meant to bind a young dragon, and walks away from the fight considerably richer.
Classic
Last time, Brynnan’s Test left the party waiting outside a door with no idea what was happening on the other side. This time, they got their answer — Brynnan came back changed, staff in hand and hair gone white — and barely had time to process it before smoke on the horizon pulled them into a fight to stop the Blue Dragon Army from claiming a young dragon for their own.
Snarky
Brynnan went into his Test a robed wizard and came out looking like he’d aged forty years and won an argument with a mirror — new staff, white hair, the whole dramatic package — and the rest of the party didn’t even notice time had passed. Barely a breath later they were setting a dragon free from an army that clearly hadn’t read the room, which ended about as well for the soldiers as you’d expect.
Memorable Moments
Brynnan walks out of his Test with the Staff of Magius, stark white hair, and completely different robes — and no time has passed for anyone else.
He went in a wizard. He came out an icon.
The party interrupts an entire Blue Dragon Army ritual just to free one young dragon — and it doesn’t even thank them for it.
Rescued, then immediately zapped everyone. Dragons.
